Greetings Excel Parents, Students, and Community Members,
It is a profound honor to serve as your Middle School Assistant Principal. I am deeply committed to positively impacting the lives of our students and grateful to be part of a dedicated team of administrators, teachers, and support staff who work tirelessly to create a safe, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment.
I firmly believe in the power of collective teacher efficacy to unlock the limitless potential within every student. Today’s educational landscape requires the development of 21st-century skills, and we are committed to cultivating lifelong learners who can adapt and thrive in an ever-evolving workforce.
My journey in education began in 2009 as a Middle School Business and Computer Science teacher. Since then, I have had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles, including Department Chair, Grade Level Chair, Personalized Learning Project Manager, and Middle School Assistant Principal. During my instructional tenure at Dutchtown Middle School, I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year. Additionally, I am a proud graduate of both the Henry County Schools Educational Leadership Academy (L.E.A.D.) and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) Governor’s School Leadership Academy (GSLA).
I hold a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix, an Education Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Piedmont College, and L-6 Educational Leadership Certification from the University of West Georgia. Before entering the field of education, I worked as an Information Technology Specialist in both the private and public sectors in banking and government, respectively, having previously earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Computer Information Systems from Georgia Southern University.
Beyond my professional life, I am a proud wife of a retired educator and mother of three amazing children, two of whom are young adults and our youngest who is a high school senior.
It is truly a privilege to support your child’s educational journey. Should you need to reach me, please feel free to email me at yolanda.oatts@henry.k12.ga.us or call the school directly.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Yolanda Oatts
Middle School Assistant Principal
